Writer Sue Houghton comes from Nottinghamshire.
"I've had various jobs ranging from butcher's assistant to dispensing
optician and everything in-between.
I didn't know I could write until about 8 years ago when I
submitted a story to "Woman" magazine and they published it. Hurrah -
I could give up work, sit at my keyboard, eat biscuits all day and whack out
stories that would sell immediately. Not so! It's been a long hard slog but to
date I've sold over one hundred short stories to women's magazines in the UK,
Australia, New Zealand, France, Germany, Switzerland and Sweden. My work has
also appeared in 4 of the charity "Sexy Shorts" anthologies (Accent
Press).
I'm a member of a super supportive on-line writing group
called The Wild Geese. I have one completed novel, "Nearly Dearly", a
romantic comedy, which has been short-listed/runner up in several novel writing
competitions and is 'doing the rounds' of agents and publishers. A second novel
is underway.
